About the Victoria Rose Room

This room is located on the second floor of our inn. We have filled it with color and Old World Victorian prints. The large, four poster, queen bed is the focal point of the room. A lighted window canopy is above the bed and creates a soft, quiet, romantic mood while the rich, red walls in the room have been said to create feelings of love, passion and desire.

The cozy sitting room has a ‘hired man’s bed’ settee from Lawrence County, SD. In early days this piece of furniture was kept on the porch and a feather ticking mattress was put on it for the hired man to sleep on. Though this settee does not have a “feather ticking” mattress now, the present pad is covered with a Victorian Rose print and allows a place to relax, rest or read. There is also a mirrored dressing table in the area adjoining the bedroom.

The Victorian Rose Room overlooks the many quartzite buildings located on our Historic Main Street. The entire Main Street is on the National Register of Historic Places. There is a beautiful and functional Art Deco movie theater built in the 1930’s, is across the street, and has a large colorful, lighted marquee, that can be seen from one of the windows in this room. Take in a walk down Main Street, or catch a movie during your stay with us!

This room’s private bathroom is located just across the hallway. And can be seen in the images below.

In each room we keep small diaries and journals for people to comment or leave stories. Here are some of the nice things people have had to say about their stay:

A couple from Omaha, NE wrote in our guest book and said, “WOW! I was giddy at the sight of this magnificent house. It was everything the website showed and more. The breakfast was amazing. It looked too good to eat, but the tastes were so delectable! Thank you so much for our wonderful, first experience at a bed and breakfast.”
Another couple from Evansville, IN left a note saying, “Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. The room was so cozy and charming and your entire home so inviting! Breakfast was wonderful! This was a relaxing get-away for us ‘new’ parents.
One guest wrote, “Thank you so much-our room was perfect.(loved the Irish CD). Our walk around town was great, (the bath house by the river was picture perfect), but the breakfast OH MY!!!, truly exquisite. Presentation was so very good. We both enjoyed our ‘after breakfast’ conversation, too. Good work-we’ll tell our friends.
